Background
A well-established Scottish oilfield tool rental and sales company, with expansion on the horizon.
The Challenge
With the company about to expand, the company identified that existing IT servers would not cope with the projected increased user load, and set out to address this with the following additional objectives: -
- To allow increased size of Staff Mailboxes
- To improve the Disaster Recovery options
- To minimise Cap-ex costs.
The solution
To meet these challenges, TeleInformatics transformed the company’s IT infrastructure using an integrated combination of VMware and Microsoft solutions which included:-
- Server consolidation – reduced hardware costs.
- Updated email & Messaging system
The Benefits
The benefits were immediate, a new server infrastructure was deployed and seamlessly integrated with the existing systems, allowing retirement of the older servers, while the staff enjoyed the new features and increased mailbox storage now available to them within their email client.
The Future
Going forward, the company intend to make use of the additional backup and recovery options now open to them since moving to a Virtual environment and regularly test their Disaster Recover procedures.
