Server-based Computing Case Study
Background
An offshore drilling contractor required to deploy their Asset Integrity and Maintenance Management (AIMM) application to multiple sites and offshore installations.
The Challenge
The challenge was roll out the AIMM application to all users both on and offshore, with all sites accessing the same, up-to-date centrally-stored data. Delays caused by replication updates were to be avoided, since this had been a source of frustration in the past.
The solution
The results were impressive, with clever network optimisation of the important Citrix traffic, performance of the application was deemed perfect and subsequently the project was expanded to include the offshore installations.
By working closely with the different VSAT providers, Teleinformatics were able to maximise the performance of the application while maintaining existing Voice quality over the links by implementing a network-wide Quality of Service Policy for all IP traffic.
The Future
Going forward, the company intend to deploy a Quality Assurance application using the existing infrastructure.
